Mother's Day 2009

I didn't want too much time to pass before I blogged about Mother's day. I am at work and sadly have only one picture to post right now but there are more to come and even a video of the joyous occasion.

Mother's Day was an absolute delight. It was my first and might I say that my husband and son did a GREAT job at making my Mother's Day amazing.

The morning started out wonderful, I woke up to a sleeping baby and husband next to me, (Johnny comes into bed in the early am to nurse). I watched them over the next few minutes both stretch in the exact same ways in sync (SO cute), open their big brown eyes and smile at me. Actually, three pair of big brown eyes. I still dont understand how my 6'3" husband, 5 month old son, 70 lb Lab and myself all fit onto a full size bed! Miraculous I tell you! In a couple years I wont understand how we added another baby on that bed but that day will come too I'm sure.

We got ready for church and I changed my outfit at least three times, John may say more, before we piled into the car and headed to church at the ungodly hour of 8:15 on a Sunday morning. Now, I saw ungodly because we had to wake up an hour earlier and that hour is priceless in the life of parents, that and I am being a bit drastic but this is my story =). LOL. We met my parents at church and then filed into a small hallway with 26 or so other sets of parents and little one's for Johnny's Parent-Child Dedication. It was such a blessing as parents to have the ability to turn this child over to Christ months after he was given to us. It's amazing to me that I have this comfort in knowing that Johnny is not actually my own, that he is God's child on loan to me and John while he is here. God has entrusted us with this unbelievable amount of influence and control in his life and has left us with the responsibility in bringing him up in the sight of the Lord and his will. I love it! We also wrapped up an amazing series on parenting. John and I both really soaked up the last 4 weeks.

After church we went with my parents to Olive Garden to celebrate Mother's Day. I had a yummy dish that I hadn't had before Sunday and it was to die for, I don't remember the name but it had chicken in it. I know, a lot of help I am, half the dishes there have chicken. It was a fun time.

We went home afterwards and Johnny and Mommy shared an afternoon nap while Daddy went out to prepare for his surprise. I woke up to a dozen red roses on my dinning room table with petals scattered about, a place setting for two with a candle lit dinner on the horizon.

We had a great night together and despite his hoping to find a babysitter and not at the last minute, our little boy decided to crash earlier than usual, giving us a quiet evening to ourselves. Though, there was no getting rid of the Dog =) There is no "early bedtime" for him. He's a free spirit!

Remember, more pictures to come!
